Street Art by David Zinn

Illustrator and street chalk artist David Zinn will be spending the week of September 9-13 working with students at BPS, BIS, BMS and BHS.

According to BAAC AIE Chairperson Rachael Berkemeier, “Through the Arts in Education (AIE) Program, the BAAC has a long tradition of providing all disciplines of art into our area schools. David Zinn’s demonstrations of street art created with chalk, charcoal, and found objects will help BCSC students to see the world around them in a new light. Watching an artist create in a live demonstration format is an experience typically found only at street festivals in large cities…and Batesville students get this as a part of their school day.”

Zinn’s week in Batesville will conclude with an AIE Evening Series program, Friday, September 13th from 4:30 – 6:30, where he will do some public chalk drawings on sidewalks on George and Main Streets, in the vicinity of Amack’s Well. Berkemeier explains, “Evening Series programs were designed to bring a snapshot of the talent our students get during the school day in an evening format available to our entire community.” Parents and kids alike are encouraged to stop by the area and watch as Zinn’s favorite characters come to life. Don’t be surprised if one or two like Batesville so much they decide to stick around! For more info on David Zinn, visit zinnart.com.
