On Thursday, March 25, Oldenburg Academy hosted astronomer Dean Regas from the
Cincinnati Observatory for a talk which focused about what we have learned about stars,
planets, and space. Dean Regas started his talk about talking about all of the opportunities
available to scientists and previewing his work, which includes television, podcasts, and work at
the Cincinnati Observatory. Dean showed students a free, online software program (Mitaka) for
independent space study, and then talked about how distance, light, and time affect our viewing
of space. Through incredible space photography, we also saw just how big “the universe” really
is.
