Mike Mains visits St. Louis Schools Virtually

Spanish Teacher, Kristina Brooks shared the following about their visit.

The sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at St. Louis Catholic School participated in a virtual songwriting workshop with musician Mike Mains over Zoom. Mike taught our students the parts of a song (chorus, verse, bridge, etc.). After learning the structure, Mike and our students wrote a short song together using their suggestions for a subject for the song (my personal favorite song created was about finding a giant lobster out at sea!). Mike then took the students through his process for writing one of his own original songs. Our students really enjoyed hearing his personal stories and inspiration in his own writing. We ended each workshop with a question and answer session. Our music teacher, Mrs. Pedersen, will use this workshop as an introduction to a songwriting unit she will do with these students.
